Research unit of Reproductive Anatomy and Physiology
Project leader
Asst.Prof.Dr. Sayamon Srisuwatanasagul (DVM, MS.c., Ph.D.)
The research study related to reproductive anatomy and physiology will mainly focus on the assumption of animal reproductive problems encountered in clinical practice integrating with preclinical sciences i.e. anatomy, histology, biochemistry and physiology; especially the hormonal influences on the reproductive organs as well as the role of hormone receptors in regulating reproductive performance in varieties species of domestic and exotic animals. The ultimate goal is to create link-kind medical diagnostic tool, service or treatment with branch of preclinical knowledge.
Mission
- Tobe able tointegrate and apply branch of preclinical sciences knowledge as a potential and effective tool to explainthe mechanism, prevention and treatment ofreproductive diseaseor disorderin companion animals and wildlife species
- To further the knowledge in the field of reproductive biology especially the role of hormonal in controlling reproduction
- To strengthen the research cooperation in reproductive biology and physiology in both domestic and exotic species
Research projects
- Expression of prostaglandin E2 receptors (EP2 and EP4) and extracellular matrix in the cervix of cyclic bitches and bitches with pyometra
- Sperm quality in relation with expression of prostaglandin F2 alpha in cat epididymis, vas deferen and testis
- Oxytocin receptor expression in the canine reproductive tract
